The festive season is when we gather with family and friends, taking time off from our hectic schedule to be with the important people in our life. For those who are orphaned, old and poor, this can be a time that they feel lonely and left out, and therefore charitable activities during the festive seasons can reduce the sadness of being alone when others.
Along with my few other friends, we have came up with a mini charity project to deliver some joy and love message to the less fortunate group in this society. Our project consists of 2 phases:
Phase one - Orphanage
While we are busy shopping for Christmas presents or buying new clothes and new toys for our children, there are many less fortunate children out there who are homeless, lonely and they deserve to have a joyful festive season too.
Our plan is to collect donations in the form of toys, books, clothing and basically anything you think are suitable as a present to these children and we will sort them out before wrapping it up into nice little presents. We will then allocate the presents according to the needs and the number of children in each home and we’ll deliver it to them on the first 2 weekends of December 2008 (tentatively).
We are targeting at least 5 homes (or more, depending on the donated items we received) around Ampang and PJ area. Things are in progress now and once we have ironed out the delivery schedule, I will announce it again here.
Phase two – Old Folks Home
As Chinese New Year is not too far away from now (it falls on 26th Jan 2009 if you don’t already know J), while we might already planned to have family gathering with our parents and siblings, visiting our grandparents back in hometown and all, there are many elderly who are so lonely out there who needs a lot of caring.
Our plan is to collect donations in the form of any necessity items from food to toiletries, clothing to diapers, you name it. Again we will sort things out and deliver it to the elderly 2 weeks before the Chinese New Year. We will of course bring along mandarin oranges as well by then.
Care to help?
1. Pack stuffs that you do not need and still in good usable condition for the children or elderly and donate it. (please do not give it to us if otherwise, or it will take up our time to sort thing out in the end, thanks!)
2. If you are buying new stuffs to donate, please get the canned food, dry grocery items or toiletries, which would make sense to the children.
3. Sponsor us some wrapping papers for the presents.
4. Spread the words around to your family and relatives, friends, colleagues, neighbors, or better still, help us to collect the stuff and deliver to us/we’ll come to pick up from you at one go.
5. Link this to your blog, or copy the link and email out to your contacts.
When?
The 1st round of collection starts from now, and the last collection date would be on Sunday, 30th November (coz we need time to sort things out and wrap them nicely)
Where to drop the stuff?
You may drop it at our office CP Tower (in front of Eastin Hotel) if you are working or staying nearby, or contact me to arrange for pick-up (subject to the location).

My husband and I used to share one desktop computer at home, and I can tell you how inconvenient that is. Since my husband uses it a lot to work from home, especially during weekends, he has requested the company to buy him a laptop and after much research around, he picked the Toshiba Satellite with a 15.4 inch screen. So now I can have more time to spend on net surfing as and when I like.
Being full time working parents, we really do not have the privilege to spend a lot of time with our 2 kids, Dillon and Kaith. During work days, my husband and I normally reach home after 7pm (yes we car pool!), and after dinner and shower, it’ll be almost 8.30pm if not earlier, that only leaves us about 1 – 1.5 hours time to spend with the kids before their bedtime, which is not sufficient.
The lucky thing is that my husband and I both work on 5-days week, so weekend is always our designated family day. It is very important because most of the time while we are at work, we leave our kids with the maid and therefore family day is a precious opportunity bonding with the kids and spend some exclusive time with them, and it actually brings us closer to each other.
What we normally do is to bring them to outdoor activities, not so much to the shopping malls but more often to the swimming pool, park and playground. All 4 of us go into the children’s pool together, splashing water having fun, we play swing and seesaw together, we run around freely in the park chasing each other, cycling or flying a kite, no matter what we do, we always treasure this great family moment. We also love to attend gathering and parties whenever possible, I think it gives a very good exposure to Dillon and Kaith as they mix around and interact with other kids. Seeing their happy faces and how much they laughed and enjoyed the family day with us, is truly something priceless………..
I have never participated in any Nuffnang bloggers gathering before and this time, the Nuffnang Friso Family Day Out really catches my attention. This would be a great gathering to meet all the parent bloggers nationwide and also to meet their little ones in person. It’s also a great family bonding event which I’d really love to participate along with my husband and kids. Furthermore there will be talks on nutrition and parenting experiences, which is definitely useful to all parents and the magic show is going to entertain the kids a great deal, I’m sure Dillon and Kaith will be fascinated.
This fun filled event is even more exciting because it comes with a lot of fantastic prizes to be won, including 10x RM100 MPH vouchers and a 32’’Sony LCD TV and the Grand prize is a dream family vacation for 2 adults and 2 children to Disneyland Hong Kong fully sponsored by Friso!! Wow this sounds too good to be true, I have always dreaming of going to Disneyland and this trip for is just perfect for me (2 adults = me + hubby, 2 children = Dillon + Kaith), it will definitely be an unforgettable experience for us and the kids because it will be our first family vacation to overseas. We will take a lot of great pictures, and we will buy a lot of souvenirs………oops, I have started dreaming of this family vacation already and I can almost visualize that Mickey is welcoming us there right now……
Since last month, I have been cooking dinner not only on weekends but weekdays after work too, because eating out is so costly and we are also bored to think of what to eat everyday.
My time is always very rush, left office about 6pm and I normally reach home around 7 - 7.15pm depending how bad the traffic is. Then quickly I would start preparing the ingredients, sometimes I do get my maid to wash the vegetables and marinade the meat for me before I got home so it makes my work easier and faster. My maid have already cooked the rice and soup also because Dillon and Kaith will have dinner earlier too.
I always prepare very simple dishes, normally 3 dishes and I’d need roughly 30 minutes to get it done, and my husband really enjoy homecooked food, plus it is cost saving too.
Our simple dinner, consists of Red spinach with fish paste & KeiZhi, Beancurd with minced meat and carrot dice, Chicken with bitter gourd in black dace sauce:
My sister has just bought a house from a relative who is migrating to Australia and she is planning to move in before the year end. Basically she just have to get the Moen faucets to touch up the kitchen and bathroom, and repaint the living and dining hall and then she will be ready to move in since the house is already partially furnished.
Apart from exercising on a regular basis and go on diet plan, one can also lose weight by going for slimming treatment at slimming centers, taking diet pills such as Phentermine or drink slimming tea. We always have to be cautious and think carefully when choosing. Do a little bit of research or seek doctor’s advice and then only decide on the method that is most suitable to us.
I like traveling but what I don’t like is to pack and unpack the luggage. Before I had kids, my luggage is always very simple when I go traveling, usually just one hand carry bag will do. But now after having 2 kids, whenever we go on a family trip, I have to spend a lot more time to pack the luggage for myself, for the kids and husband as well, I find this is really tedious.
Few years ago when my company is having a costume party, I went to this costume shop located in Hartamas to rent my costume. The costume range there is huge and you can find almost any costume and accessories there, from Halloween costume to Ballroom costume, from Cabaret to Cowboy, you name it, and the rental is also quite reasonable, starting from RM45.00 up to RM150.00 per set. So now you know where to rent the costume if you needed one.
Recently, I have just repainted my living hall and changed the tiles to parquet flooring too. In order to complement the new look of the room, I have also changed the colourful curtains to the beautiful bamboo blinds, which I think has bring out the beauty of nature indoors and enhanced the overall atmosphere. Furthermore I think it is also easy to maintain in terms of cleanliness as compare to curtains.
Although both Dillon and Kaith were not selected as a talent for the TVC casting we went last week, but to me, they are both my super models. See how well they pose…..especially Kaith….. LOL
But as usual, Dillon gorgor still acting cool…….
In order to look fit and maintain an ideal body weight, exercise regularly and eating a balanced diet is the best way. But those people who has serious obesity problem will need to seek doctor’s advice to get some prescribed diet pills, plus with adequate exercise and special diet plan in order to reduce the weight back to the normal range.
One of my high school class mates who went to further study in Dallas few years ago has finally completed her Masters and she has also decided to work there for a while because the pay is higher and at the same time can gain some valuable experience. She got a couple of offers already but still trying to look for other better jobs in Dallas. Currently she is planning to work for a year or two before coming back here.
Thanks Judy for passing this cancer awareness tag to me. I know I’m a bit late to post this tag and well, it’s been more than half a year since I wrote on my last tag….. so please forgive me.
I think women nowadays are more aware and concern of their body and wiht this tag, I hope to remind every woman to have your routine self examination and see your gynae for thorough check if you feel anything unusual around your breast.
